Recently, Influenster gave us Almay’s new one coat mega volume mascara and I was so excited to try it! In the past I’ve used Almay’s different eye-shadow palettes and I used to be a frequent user of their liquid liners. Needless to say, in general I would recommend Almay as a pretty reliable brand but I’ve never tried their mascara before receiving this one in the mail. Anyways, here’s what I thought!

Pros

  • It really does only need one coat. That’s enough to extend your lashes and it can last for the whole day.
  • You can layer it. Even though it’s advertised as one coat mascara, you can choose to apply multiple looks for a more voluminous look. It dries pretty quickly, so the mascara won’t clump.
  • Flared brush tip that lets you add that extra bit of drama to your lashes. This would be great for a night out (you know, when you’re breaking out that sultry smokey-eyed look).
  • Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Cons

There was only one thing I didn’t like about this mascara: the megaphone brush. It was great when I was using it on my outer lashes, but applying it to my inner corner lashes was very tricky. You’d have to be very careful not to touch your eyelid but if you’re not looking to put much emphasis in those areas, the mascara is still totally usable.

Overall, I think the mascara is great. The formula is really great for multiple coats but it doesn’t actually need more than one. That’s a lot of flexibility, which means you can customize your look that much more. If it’s just a regular day, then this mascara is a one coat wonder. If it’s a night on the town, then you can but that flare brush to use and get the most dramatic look possible.

Let me know if any of you have used this mascara and what you thought of it @theliasblog!
